The short version
- 01Log your week in Snaptally, however you already keep notes.
- 02Check the week and fix anything that reads wrong.
- 03Open FunctionFox, click the Snaptally Exporter, and push. It fills each row for you.
The problem
Why it takes so long by hand
Every row in FunctionFox is its own small form. You pick the Client, the Project and the Task. You type the date as month, day, year. You turn "9 to 9:30" into 0.50 in your head, because the hours field wants decimals. You write a description, then click Save New. Then you do it again.
A normal week is twenty or thirty of those. The notes you are copying from are already correct. You are just moving them.
FunctionFox has no public API and no way to upload timesheet entries from a file. So something has to fill the form the way a person would. That is all the Exporter does. When you say so, it sends your finished week out of Snaptally and into FunctionFox.
Step 1
Get your week into Snaptally
Use whatever you already do. It all lands on the same weekly sheet.
Type a line
Write it the way you already would. Snaptally reads the times, the task and the hours.

The blocks you already booked become entries. Rules skip holds, lunches and empty invites.

Step 2
Check the week
Snaptally lays the week out with the hours as decimals and the week totalled. Read it over the way you would before handing it in. Fix a task name or change an hour right on the sheet. Nothing goes to FunctionFox until you send it.
Step 3
Fill FunctionFox with the Exporter
The Snaptally Exporter is a free add on for Chrome and Edge. It works in your own logged in FunctionFox tab.
- 1Install the Exporter and pin it to your toolbar.
- 2In Snaptally, open ⇄ Sync and copy your sync code. The Exporter finds your week through this code, whether or not you have an account.
- 3Open your FunctionFox timesheet page.
- 4Click the Exporter icon and paste the sync code into the panel.
- 5Pick the Client, Project and Task in FunctionFox. Tick the entries for that day and push.
It fills
Date, Hours and Description, saved as one row per entry.
You choose
Client, Project, Task and Personnel. Pick them once and every entry you push is filed under that choice.
Nothing is saved without your OK. Before it writes anything, the Exporter shows you exactly what is about to happen. Which entries, how many hours, and where they will be filed. Nothing is written until you confirm.

Questions
Common questions
Can I import a CSV into FunctionFox?
Not for timesheet entries. FunctionFox has no file upload for them and no public API. The Exporter fills the form for you instead, only when you push.
Does Snaptally read anything out of FunctionFox?
No. It only goes one way. Your week goes from Snaptally into FunctionFox when you push, and nothing comes back.
Does the Exporter pick the Client, Project and Task?
No. You pick those in FunctionFox, once per batch. The Exporter fills the date, hours and description under your choice.
Will it save anything without asking?
No. It shows a summary first and writes nothing until you confirm.
Does it work in Firefox or Safari?
Chrome and Edge for now. Snaptally itself works in any browser, and copy and paste into FunctionFox works the way it always has.
Is this made by FunctionFox?
No. Snaptally is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to FunctionFox.
