FunctionFox guide

Importing time into FunctionFox, and what actually works.

FunctionFox has no import for timesheet entries and no public API, so there is no CSV or spreadsheet you can upload. Your time still has to go in through the timesheet form. Here are your options, and the one that does the typing for you.

The Exporter is free on every plan. No account needed to install it.

Option 1Retype itOpen the form, fill it in, Save New, repeat. Free and slow. One trip through the form per entry.
Option 2Copy and pasteQuicker than typing from scratch, but still one field and one row at a time. Hours still need turning into decimals.
Option 3The FunctionFox timerStart it when you begin a task. Works well when you remember to start and stop it every time you switch.
Option 4The Snaptally ExporterLog the week however you like, then push it. The Exporter fills the form and saves each row after you confirm.

The short version

  1. 01You cannot upload a file of time entries into FunctionFox.
  2. 02The free Snaptally Exporter fills the timesheet form for you, from a week you have already logged.
  3. 03It only sends. It never reads anything back from FunctionFox.

The reason

Why there is no import

FunctionFox does not offer a public API, and its timesheet has no file upload for entries. Tools that connect to other time trackers through an API have nothing to connect to here.

That is why the Snaptally Exporter works inside your own logged in FunctionFox tab and fills the form the way you would. You set the Client, Project and Task. It fills the date, hours and description, then saves the row.

It only goes one way. Your week goes from Snaptally into FunctionFox when you push. The Exporter never reads your existing FunctionFox entries.
